We take infection control very seriously here at Michelakis Dentistry. Every year we participate in training to ensure we are utilizing all the latest techniques, controls and system for infection control and Universal precautions to provide the most comprehensive safety for all our patients and staff.
Dr. Michelakis and our entire team follow procedures recommended by several federal agencies: The Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) as well as the American Dental Association.
These measures include:
- Gloves, face masks (N95 and similar), fluid resistant gowns, face shields
- Chemical disinfection of countertops and surfaces, a fogger for all other surfaces from the front door to the back door
- Sterilization of all equipment and instruments through multiple heat sterilizers
- Disposable materials
We sterilize all equipment, including dental hand pieces. We use an autoclave and a statim sterilizer which kills bacteria and viruses through steam, heat and pressure.
The cornerstone of our professional, safe dental practice is the element of trust you have in our infection protocols. Please feel free to discuss this topic with Dr. Michelakis and any of our staff, you will always receive a straightforward answer.
The best defense against the spread of disease is information, now more than ever. The more you know, the better equipped you are to make decisions about your health care.
